Mid-Northside - Community Partner Toolkit
The communities of the Mid-Northside (including Edgewater, Lincoln Square, and Uptown) have placed two referendum questions on the ballot for the November 3rd elections for the opportunity to bring more mental health resources to their community. This fall the Community Action Team (CAT), composed of community residents, have developed different educational materials to inform their neighbors on the creation of an Expanded Mental Health Services Program (EMHSP) . This Toolkit provides materials to be shared among residents of the Mid-Northside as they prepare for the elections.

WHAT WOULD IT PROVIDE?
The proposed Mid-Northside Expanded Mental Health Services Program would provide free mental health services to residents who need assistance coping with mental or emotional disorders.
Specific services would be determined through a community needs assessment and local governing process.

HOW IT WORKS
If established by voters, the Mid-Northside Expanded Mental Health Services Program would have a dedicated local fund overseen by a governing commission. The ballot proposal sets a maximum property tax rate of 0.025%. Under Illinois law, the governing commission identifies local mental health needs and determines programs to address them.
